Machine set-up

1. To Check work area for:

1.1 Cleaning path to the electrical outlet that does not contain any sources of heat or oil, sharp edges or moving parts that may damage electrical cord.

1.2 Dry place for machine and operator. Do not place the machine in water.

1.3 Flammable liquids, vapors or dust that may ignite.

The machine in question is a heavy-duty apparatus. It is advisable not to strain oneself excessively while unpacking or relocating the machine, and assistance should be sought accordingly.

2. To Install the Legs

Install each leg as shown in Figure 2, using the cap screws already mounted to the main body.

 

OPERATIONS

1. Installing/Changing Dies

To install the Dies' Step Unlock the threading dies head and pivot it open. Loosen the lock handle and slide it all the way down in the adjustment slot, as illustrated in Figure 4. This will enable the dies to be inserted into/out of the threading dies head. Figure 4.

The lock handle is positioned in such a way as to facilitate the insertion of dies into the threading die head.

Insert the die numbered #1 , which features the number stamped on its side, into the corresponding slot numbered #1 on the threading die head, positioning the tapered end of the die towards the headstock, as illustrated in Figure 5. The die should securely engage with an audible "click" when inserted approximately three-quarters of the way into the slot.

Repeat the process outlined in Step 3 for the remaining three dies, ensuring that each die is matched with its corresponding numbered slot.

2. Set scales and marks for appropriate pipe sizes

Utilize the lock handle to align the marker on the threading die's head with your desired pipe size, as indicated on the scale in Figure 6. Secure the handle once the correct setting is achieved.

3. Locking/ Unlocking Pipe in headstock

3.1 To lock a piece of pipe in the headstock

Open both chucks on the headstock by rotating them, and insert the pipe through the support chuck.

Center the pipe in the support chuck and close it.

Close the hammer chuck until it grips the pipe evenly with all jaws, then open it about a 1/4-1/2 turn, and slam it closed, as shown in Figure 8, to lock the chuck on the pipe.

Note: When threading a short pipe that does not reach the support chuck, hold and center The pipe by hand until the hammer chuck is tightened.

3.2 To unlock a piece of pipe:

Slam the hammer chuck toward the rear of the machine to open the chuck.

Hold the pipe in one hand and open the support chuck with the other.Remove the pipe

4.Cutting/Squaring Pipe

The cutting attachment provides a quick and easy way of cutting pipe to length or squaring off the end of a pipe before cutting threads.

4.1 To cut/square a piece of pipe

Move the cutter, threading tool, and reaming tool out of the way of the work area.

Insert the piping into the headstock, draw it beneath the cutter, and secure it in place within the headstock.

Lower the cutter onto the piping, adjust its position using the carriage handle, and apply a gentle tightening force to the blade against the piping.

Turn the pipe threader ON.Slowly increase cutting pressure with the cutting handle until the cut is complete and the end of Pipe falls off. Figure 8 shows an example of a cutting operation.

5.Reaming

Rough pipe ends must be reamed after they are cut or threaded to avoid sharp ends that cause lacerations when handling. Reaming is usually performed when the pipe is still locked in the headstock after cutting or threading.

5.1 To ream the pipe end

Make sure the pipe is locked in the headstock. Turn the pipe threader ON.

Move the reaming tool down and lock it into position. Turn the carriage handwheel to slowly move the reaming tool into the pipe and cut off the sharp edge.

When the reaming is finished, Turn the pipe threader OFF Using the carriage handwheel, move the reaming tool back and then lift it out of the way. Make sure the pipe has come to a complete stop, then remove it from the headstock.Figure 11 shows an example of a reaming operation.

 

MAINTENANCE

Always disconnect power to the machine before performing maintenance. Failure to do this may result in serious personal injury.

a. Turn the master switch to the position of "off" or unplug the power when the machine is checked or maintained.

b. The shell of this machine is cast with a whole piece of aluminum alloy.

Its reduction gearbox keeps lubricating permanently. Do not impact the shell violently.

c. Cooling oil system: Clean the oil filter disk and oil suction

filter disk after running for 8-12 hours. Clean the oil tank and refill if the oil is dirty or turns black.

d. Small iron filings may fell into the oil tank when threading.It is therefore essential to clean the filter disk once a week to keep the machine in order.

e. Check the cutting blade each week. Replace it when it is blunt.

f. Check the attention of the claw points in the claw one a month. If the claw points are worn, replace them(three each set) to ensure to produce the threads of high quality.

g. Clean screwing dies and die heads every shift. Check if the teeth of the screwing die are broken. If they are,remove the cuttings between the teeth. If the die is already broken, replace a set of dies instead of the broken one only.

h. There are two oil cups on the shell of main shaft. Oil at least twice each shift to lubricate the fore and rear bearings.

i. Unplug the power when the machine is not in use. Coat corrosion resistant oil on both fore and rear guideposts and other working surfaces. Store it in a dry and airing place.

 

SERVICE

Repairing Clogged Pump

Very small metal particles will accumulate in the tank and could eventually clog the pump if the fluid is not changed on a regular basis. If the pump stops working and you have verified that there are no other obstructions in the fluid lines, then the pump may need to be repaired.

Repairing the pump is an easy job that takes approximately 10 minutes, and should only be done after the fluid has been changed.

To repair a clogged fluid pump:

Remove the motor access cover (Held in place by two screws) to expose the fluid pump, as shown in Figure 24.

Unbolt the three hex bolts on the pump cover and carefully pull the cover off.

Using the pliers, pull the pump shaft out of the pump.

Using the rag and solvent/degreaser, clean the pump shaft and the inside of the pump to remove any built-up grime or metal chips.

Inspect the O-ring that was between the pump and the pump cover.

If the O-ring is hard, cracked, or otherwise in poor condition, replace it( for quick turnaround, new O-ring can often be found in hardware or automotive stores ).

If the O-ring is soft, pliable, and in otherwise good condition, reuse it.

Lubricate the pump shaft in the same manner as you removed it, and replace the pump cover and access cover to complete the job.
